Acid Stain is a process whereby water, acid, and inorganic salts react with the minerals present in concrete which results in a change of color. This process can be applied to both new and existing concrete, decorative polymer overlays, and self-leveling products. It can be used in both exterior and interior areas. Acid Stain is extremely durable if properly safeguarded with wax or sealer. Acid stain differs from paint in that it penetrates beneath the surface of cured concrete rather than just forming a film on top. Because the acid reacts with the concrete, which is itself composed of various materials, the final appearance is pleasantly mottled, often with marble-like veins. A special acid cleaning agent must be applied first so that the concrete will soak up the stain. Concrete can be stained with a single color or you may want us to create a more decorative effect, much like you would opt for a faux finish on a wall.
