Blue Buoy Swim School has served the families of Orange County since 1956, providing the highest quality instruction and customer service for all levels of students: infant through adult. Our facilities can accommodate all your needs because we have two pools specifically designed for optimum instruction. Our small pool is designed with young swimmers in mind. It has large steps, shallow water, and we enclose it for winter comfort. The large pool is used by advanced little ones and older age groups who require more space. It also provides plenty of room for our weekend swim meets and adult classes. The ability to learn any new skill is always dependent upon the foundation that is established in the initial stage of instruction. The foundation building process is what allows Blue Buoy Swim School to consistently develop the most comfortable, confident and effective swimmers in a positive and enjoyable manner. The foundation we develop has three main elements: Breath Control, Balance Control and Movement in the water. Before a child can master strokes and kicking there must be an understanding of how different breathing in the water is from breathing on land. They must learn to control when to hold, when to exhale and when to inhale while passing through the surface of the water. Learning to control equilibrium in the water is required before any movement skills can be learned. Balance in the water is opposite of what a child experiences on land and can cause a great deal of anxiety until control is gained. Once there is comfort with the breath control and balance the child will make confident progress with the movement skills. At Blue Buoy the student is always taught at his individual level. Teachers will consider where a child is in his development in four areas: Physical, Emotional, Mental and Social. No child will be asked to try something for which they are not developmentally ready.
