About
The Sentinel opened offices in Shippensburg and started The Shippensburg Sentinel in 1997 and entered cyberspace early with the launch of Cumberlink in July 1995. Lee Enterprises, a leading publisher of small and mid-sized newspapers based in Davenport, Iowa, purchased the newspapers in 2002 along with 15 other Howard Publications newspapers. In September 1997, we added the weekly Shippensburg Sentinel that is delivered to 13,000 households on Fridays in Shippensburg, Newburg, Orrstown, Roxbury, Lurgan and Walnut Bottom areas.
