Dave Drew is your 2012 Republican candidate for Woodbury County Sheriff.  Dave Drew is running for Sheriff of Woodbury County. Dave Drew is 52 years old. He’s been married to Jana for 28 years and has one son, three daughters and two grandchildren. Dave has been a life long resident of Woodbury County, growing up in Leeds and raising his family in Lawton. Dave brings 31 years of local, county, and federal law enforcement experience with a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice Administration and an Associates Degree in Police Science. Dave’s experience, education, commitment, and youth are the cornerstones of his objective to provide public safety for Woodbury County with integrity, honor, a vision, and a plan for the future. Dave started his law enforcement career working for the City of Marcus, Iowa and later Sergeant Bluff. Dave was hired as a Woodbury County Deputy Sheriff in January of 1984 and has worked patrol, investigations, warrants, school liaison, and as one of Woodbury County’s first D.A.R.E. instructor’s. In August of 1995, Dave was assigned to a new multi-jurisdictional narcotics unit headed by the Drug Enforcement Administration. During Dave’s eight-year assignment with the Tri-State Drug Task Force, the unit was responsible for dismantling numerous major drug organizations. Dave was case agent in a number of these major narcotics operations. The task force became nationally recognized and a model for other drug task force units across the United States. As a result of Dave’s experience and energy, he was promoted to Chief Deputy under former Sheriff Dave Amick’s administration. During Dave’s career with the Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office and the Tri-State Drug Task Force, Dave has received numerous commendations such as the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force Meritorious Achievement Award. The “OINO” Investigation and Prosecution of Operation Award. The Optimists International Law Enforcement Award. The Administrators Award from the Drug Enforcement Administration. The Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee U.S. Attorney’s Office Award for Outstanding Investigative Efforts in the Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa. The Midwest High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Outstanding Investigative Effort Award. The Eagles Club Law Enforcement Officer of the Year.
