The General Lewis Inn and Restaurant welcomes its guests with warm hospitality and personal service. Our historic country inn is situated on an 1862 civil war battle site in Lewisburg, West Virginia. Andrew Lewis, a general in the Continental Army who was born in Ireland, gave our inn and the town their names and “discovered” Lewis Springs on the site of present-day town of Lewisburg. This West Virginia getaway offers 25 different cozy bedrooms with authentic period pieces from early American history. Enjoy affordable rates and a comfortable sleep in one of our 100-year old beds. The General Lewis Inn Restaurant features one of the finest menus in the Lewisburg area. Treat yourself to delicious dining with our specialty foods, homemade breads, desserts and extensive wine list. History accompanies you in our inn and in the town of Lewisburg. Our house accommodates many interesting pieces such as our antique beds, old stage coach in the garden, a hand-built walnut and pine desk, which dates back to 1760. A battery of Virginia artillery was even placed in the backyard of our inn. The Lewis Springs are just three blocks from our inn, which is now enclosed by a stone springhouse. The houses of Lewisburg, which were built around 1830 during the President Andrew Jackson era and the nation's westward movement, are beautifully preserved. The Greenbrier Valley has many cultural and outdoor activities to offer. Enjoy a musical performance at one of the three surviving Carnegie Halls or a play at the Greenbrier Valley Theatre.
