I was born and raised on Woodvale Ave. It was a great place to grow up but you had to leave to know that. My Uncle Ed Bischof a WWI veteran was a charter member of the Woodvale AC and his name was on a plaqiue in th entryway the last time I was there. The club was the social center of the Avenue with an auxillary a softball league that played across the street. Dances, bingo and whatever you would expect from such a club in those days. I was home a few years ago and it was visiting a local bar without many customers. Its a shame but time goes on.
