The Capital Dance Center began as a dream created in the minds of a small group of dedicated dancers. After our dance lessons, we often stopped for dinner or coffee. And over coffee, the conversation invariably turned to fantasies about the ideal dance venue we wish we had locally. We wanted a place with a really good dance floor – a floor that was easy and comfortable to dance on, equal to the best in the Bay Area. We wanted the place to be big and beautiful –appealing enough to attract the very best dance professionals to Sacramento. We wanted the place to be warm and friendly for social Ballroom and Country dancers, yet able to accommodate showcases and exhibitions. We fantasized about holding competitions in Sacramento and attracting competitors from as far away as Southern California, the Bay Area, Nevada, Washington and Oregon. Our goal was not to compete with existing Sacramento dance studios, but to work with them to enhance the Sacramento dancing experience. We wanted to support the events of other studios and to invite them to participate in ours. In many cities across the United States, cooperation among studios has proven to be beneficial both to the studios and their patrons. That is the way it should be in Sacramento. To understand how close we have come to fulfilling our dream, please visit CDC for social dancing, dance classes, fitness classes, or dance practice. We welcome your suggestions for improvement.
