America's Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia is the warehouse and distribution center for other non-profit organizations providing emergency feeding for low-income individuals and families. Our partner agencies include shelters, soup kitchens, senior centers, child care centers, church food pantries, after after-school programs. Approximately 300 partner agencies utilize the services of Second Harvest as their food bank. Our programs include Brown Bag for the Elderly, providing monthly supplemental bags of groceries to income-eligible senior citizens; Community Kitchen, a job-training program that teaches life skills and GED preparation along with culinary arts skills to at-risk adults; Kids Cafe which provides a hot, nutritous, evening meal to children who are at-risk for hunger at community after-school sites; and Mobile Food Pantry which transports food relief to rural communities to supplement the efforts of our partner agencies. We serve 21 counties in the area including: Appling, Bacon, Brantley, Bryan, Bulloch, Camden, Candler, Charlton, Chatham, Evans, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long, Jeff Davis, McIntosh, Montgomery, Pierce, Tattnall, Toombs, and Wayne. Last year, our food bank distributed more than 7.1 million pounds of food to approximately 130,000 people in need throughout southeastern Georgia.
