Caring, professional instruction in voice and piano for students of all ages offered at my studio in Pelham, located just minutes from major interstates and the Birmingham, AL metro area. Emphasis is on correct singing technique, breath support, expanding the vocal range, and a relaxed, open tone that is powerful, rich, & expressive which will be applicable to a variety of musical styles. Students of this studio are taught all skills necessary for a well-rounded education in music, including theory, sight-reading, musicianship, ear-training, and keyboard skills. Our work together will also include selecting literature to sing, song interpretation, and poise & presentation. I offer assistance in preparing for auditions and competitions, and can also provide a variety of opportunities for performance to help you gain confidence in your singing. An emphasis is placed on regular practice, realizing progress cannot be made without this commitment on the part of the student. Students of all ages are welcome who want to learn to sing better, whether they are just beginning, a seasoned professional, or somewhere in-between. I offer the same level of service to those who are taking lessons for fun & recreation as I do to the student who is serious about a career in music. Regardless of what singing style appeals to you, I can help you achieve your goals. Lessons are available in either 45-minute or 60-minute times. Summer lessons are available for 6, 8, or 10 weeks. Fall and spring terms are sixteen weeks each, though students may enroll at other times if studio space permits. Tuition ranges from $160 to $250 per month, depending on lesson length and payment plan chosen. A materials / registration fee of $100 is charged once per fall and spring semester to cover business costs, music, software, recitals, and other expenses. Now also offering commercial vocal coaching for the aspiring pre-professional or professional commercial singer or those needing short-term intense preparation for auditions or competitions. Instructor holds degrees in both Music Education (B.M.Ed.) and performance (M.M.) and has over 16 years of teaching experience in public schools and college classrooms as well as her private studio. A wealth of performance experience helps her guide students toward their goals. New piano students accepted only in conjunction with voice lessons, or as studio space allows. Space is limited and new students will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Day and evening lesson times are available.
