Stewarts is a factory trained and authorized service center, servicing all makes and models of sewing machines and sergers. We currently sell Babylock, Janome, Brother, Singer and Elna machines. Our repair shop is right next to our store so all service work is completed right here at our shop in Mt. Zion. Stewarts Sewing Machines first opened its doors in 1964 in Decatur, IL. After a stint in the Army flying helicopters, Chan Stewart decided to start a second career focusing on sewing machine sales and maintenance. As times changed, he, along with daughter and co-owner Jana Wrigley, decided to open a quilt shop in Mt. Zion and opened the new store in 1996. With the large array of sewing machines, fabric and notions, Stewarts in Mt. Zion has gone through 2 major additions to the facility, with the last being completed in October 2006. We currently carry over 2000 bolts of fabrics including Moda, Robert Kaufmann, and Timeless Treasures. We also offer many different types of sewing machines from standard, straight-stitch machines, embroidery machines and even sergers. In addition, we have a wide variety of quilt books and patterns as well as an extensive selection of embroidery designs, including the new Embroidery Takeout. We have stock a large range of machines so stop in and take one for a test drive today! Fabrics Stewarts carries a variety of quilting fabrics from the top names in the business including Moda, Robert Kaufman, Red Rooster, Michael Miller, Bali Batiks, Blank Textiles, Henry Glass, and many more. Stop in to see our shop with more than 2,000 bolts of fabric ready for your next quilting or sewing project. Embroidery Designs We love embroidery as much as we love quilting so we carry a nice variety of embroidery designs from Anita Goodesign, Hoop Sisters, Dakota Collectibles, and OESD Embroidery Takeout. Thread Stewarts carries several lines of thread for sewing, quilting, and embroidery. We offer Mettler threads in Quilting, All-Purpose, Fine Embroidery, and Variegated, Aurifil for quilting and piecing, YLI serger thread and Isacord embroidery thread.
