Everyone knows JR's Chicken for their delicious fried chicken and macaroni salad. They also offer catering for any special event, including weddings, showers, baptisms and holiday parties. The full catering menu, which is available on their Web site, includes appetizers, main dishes and sides. Prices start at just $4.95 per person, which includes three sides, rolls and butter, and place settings. Delivery and setup is available for a small fee. JR's Chicken has two locations. The original restaurant in Kankakee features a buffet, while the Bourbonnais location is take-out only. Caribbean Delite has been earning rave reviews since opening in May 2011. "The Jerk Chicken is amazing!" said a customer named Aisha. A person named Stephen wrote, "Had the pleasure of trying out their cuisine today and two words describe this place: authentic and outstanding! I enjoyed the Oxtail with rice and beans, vegetables, fresh greens and fresh plantain. Cornbread is also included in the meal. My friend, Tom, had the Jerk Chicken and I sampled some and it was outstanding as well." A customer named Nick wrote, “Just tried it. I don’t know if you’ve ever been to Jamaica or not, but I have. They nailed it. I haven’t had legit Jerk Chicken or Jerk Pork in a decade. Now I have.” ... If you've never tried Jerk before, it's a spice mixture made with allspice and Scotch bonnet peppers, among other ingredients. It's rubbed on the meat or fish, which is then grilled. Caribbean Delite offers Jerk pork, catfish, shrimp and red snapper, in addition to chicken. Given the peppers, any Jerk is typically quite spicy. If you want to give it a try but are nervous about the heat, try the chicken and eat around the skin. ... Other classic Caribbean dishes on the menu include curried goat, brown stew chicken, oxtail, greens, rice and peas, and plantains, which are like bananas but not sweet. As for the goat, it tastes just like beef, so don't be afraid to try it. Just be warned that the curry is a little spicy, too. For dessert, try the plantain bread pudding. ...
