Reade Street Animal Hospital opened its doors in October of 2009. At Reade Street Animal Hospital we strive to offer high quality, state of the art medicine and surgery for your pets with a compassionate, personal touch. We are a full service hospital offering all outpatient services, dentistry, soft tissue, laser and orthopedic surgeries, xray, ultrasound and hospitalization. Dr. Mary Xanthos has practiced general medicine, soft tissue surgery, critical care and emergency medicine extensively throughout New York City. She received her degree in veterinary medicine and surgery from Cornell University in 1998 and is well known for her dedication, competence and compassion. She is the owner and primary veterinarian at Reade Street Animal Hospital. When not at work, Dr. Xanthos is an active member of the animal rights community and has dedicated her life to speaking out for those abused animals that cannot speak for themselves. She also enjoys reading, music, and taking long walks in Central Park with her beloved Brittany spaniel Rudy. Dr. Emma Williford has practiced general medicine and surgery in Pennsylvania and New York City. She initially joined a busy 12 doctor private practice in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania before moving to Brooklyn. Dr. Williford graduated from Cornell University in 2007. She is especially interested in small animal behavior and dentistry in addition to internal medicine. Dr. Williford grew up in northern Delaware and attended the University of Delaware, majoring in wildlife conservation. She spent several years as a clinic supervisor at Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research which focuses on wild bird rehabilitation and release. She moved to upstate New York and worked with rescued farm animals at Farm Sanctuary for 2 years before attending veterinary school. While at Cornell she fostered dogs for the local shelter and received a grant for a research project on tempe
