A note to Residents of the Black Forest and Mountain Shadows: Having moved to Colorado Springs in 1963, I have a deep love and concern for citizens of Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak region. Particularly those who have lost their homes to the Black Forest and Waldo Canyon wildfires. I moved to the Black Forest in 1971, attended Air Academy Jr. High School and graduated from Air Academy High in 1976. Those two were the only post elementary schools in District 20 in those times. I have proudly been a part of the enormous growth in the Pikes Peak Region over my career, having worked for home builders during the 1980's, and for the last 20 plus years designing many homes throughout the area, including Black Forest and Mountain Shadows. We have suffered an unbelievable amount of grief with over 800 homes destroyed and four lives lost to two wildfires in the two communities in a span of just under one year. Although I can't imagine what it would be like to go through losing my home and possessions, I experienced some stress under a mandatory evacuation just north of the county line in Elbert County during the Black Forest wildfire. I am blessed to have been able to return to my home with my family. From my involvement with helping a few Mountain Shadows residents rebuild over the last year, I know that it is very tough for most to get their heart into the rebuilding mode. It can be overwhelming at first while dealing with loss, relocating, and getting back to a secure financial position. I also realize that everyone's situation is unique. I want to help more displaced homeowners, both in the Black Forest and Mountain Shadows communities, get their lives back to normal as soon as they are ready. Rebuilding will be a rewarding experience for those who choose to do so as the planning process will surely bring about good from what has gone terribly bad. I want to be a part of that process. It would be my pleasure to hear from you. I will gladly answer any design and planning related questions you may have and I am willing to meet with you at your property. There is never a charge for an introductory consultation. May many of God's blessings be from this time forward! Brad Buss
