Laurel Gallery specializes in fine American craft, which makes up about 99% of our selections. We do carry Jangles Double Bubble Scent Balls from Fife, Scotland and Russian torch-worked glass, in addition to our glass creations from Glass Eye Studio, Blue Heron Glass, Soul Glass, Woven Glass Studio, Rosetree Studio, and many others. Cooper's Marine has been in business since 1946 when John Cooper opened a one room shop at the south end of the 9th Street Bridge in Richmond, Virginia. In 1948 Melvin Cooper joined forces with his brother and created a partnership. When the bridge closed, the company moved to 1845 W. Broad Street. In 1959 the company moved to 2310 W. Cary Street. Jerry Cooper, son of Melvin, started working in the family business in 1981 and in 1985 Jerry and his wife Anne purchased the business. In 2007 Cooper's moved to the present location at 11476 Fox Cross Rd., Ashland. Cooper's has been a Mercury outboard dealer since the company's inception. Sales include small boats, motors, and trailers. Most boat sales are in the 10 to 25 feet range. The service staff is fully certified in Yamaha and Mercury engines. Cooper's enjoys an excellent service reputation with the public. It provides easy access for customers bringing boats in for service, a large, secure yard for boat storage, a spacious shop to work in, a large, well-stocked parts department and close proximity to other marine-oriented businesses. We are members of the VA Marine Trades Association, lobbying to keep the laws of the state friendly to boaters. As members of the American Boat and Yacht Council, we keep current with the best standards and practices for those who build and repair boats. We have been members of the Better Business Bureau since 1994 and are proud of our our good record and reputation with them. For fun and to socialize with other avid boaters, we joined the United States Power Squadrons' Richmond Sail & Power Squadron unit. The civic service, continuing self-education and camaraderie with fellow boaters is a fulfilling way to enjoy our favorite pastime. The Squadron is truly America's Boating Club.
