About
The “Old Oriental Town Hall Inn” was built in 1933 under the WPA Program during the depression with the bricks from Pamlico County and the old Roper Mill. The building served several functions. It was the Town Hall upstairs and downstairs housed the first fire engine “the Becky Lou”. The home was refurbished in 1980s and is beautifully refinished with a mantel from the Legislative building in Raleigh. A lot of the wainscoating was salvaged from the some of the historic homes in the Raleigh area. The sitting area is flanked by a beautiful fireplace and accented with a kitchen area with all the conveniences (large refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, new oven, microwave, coffee maker and new pots and pans). There's a large screened-in back porch with a small pool table.
Review
I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Old Oriental Town Hall Inn. It is the sweetest Inn rich in history and full of historic touches and decor. It's spacious and clean and Flora was the perfect host! It is just steps away from restaurants and from the river docks. Oriental was such a beautiful place to visit and when I come back (hopefully sooner than later) I will be laying my head down at the Old Oriental Town Hall Inn!
