Founder and owner, Lori Luyten has operated a private midwifery practice since 2000 and in September 2009 she attended her 400th water birth! Lori's background in nursing meshed with years as a birth doula and Bradley instructor contribute to her balanced perspective on care for women. She practices what she calls "physiological midwifery" - understanding and working to preserve the physiological and hormonal balances of labor, birth and postpartum. Combining traditional and alternative approaches, you wont have to sacrifice the special moments to have a safe birth! In addition to her private practice, Lori is a preceptor for the National College of Midwifery, Midwifery College of Utah and the Aviva Institute of Midwifery. She is also on the advisory board of Christian MidwivesInternational and is a founding member of the international Coalition of Christian Childbirth Professionals. Located in a former parsonage house, The Oaks House is a warm, inviting place to give birth and offers all the amenities of home. A full kitchen, family room and beautiful gardens provide a comfortable environment for waiting and resting. Our standard equipment includes CD player, deep relaxation tubs, birth ball, birth stool, towel warmer, refrigerator and an abundance of pillows.

Her knowledge and compassion made me feel very supported through out my pregnancy and delivery. I have had two homebirths with Lori and I can't imagine having anyone else there to welcome a precious new life!
