My PCP needed me to have a specific test/procedure done by a gynecologist. When I called to make an appointment, I informed them of the exact test/procedure I needed and that I will be paying out of pocket since I do not have insurance. While I was informed of the cost ($150!), I was NEVER told that the first visit would ONLY consist of weight, blood pressure and 10 minutes with the doctor and then would have to come back a second time for the actual procedure and again for the results, paying at least $150 each visit, plus laboratory costs.
