The goal of CDR is to rescue and rehabilitate stray and owner surrendered Dachshunds and find them new stable and loving forever homes. CDR sometimes takes in other canine breeds if there is enough space and funding available. Many of them also come into CDR with immediate need for vet care due to wounds, mange, fly bites, flea infestations, urine burns, and other health issues. On average, CDR spends $400 a month treating these various ailments. CDR is a no kill Rescue, once an animal is accepted in their Home it is kept until an approved home is found no matter how long that takes. We go through a total of over 20 pounds of dog food a day. People interested in adopting a pet from CDR must fill out an application, pass a vet check, and home inspection. After a new family is approved they must sign an adoption contract. All pets adopted from CDR are spayed or neutered before they can go to their new homes. They also receive vaccines, a heart worm test, and de-worming, combined this averages $150.
