We were excited about our selection of Michael Cobb, owner of Studio Ecesis, to design a new lodge for our retreat, but estimates to build his design were 47% to 53% beyond the budget we gave him. This was a gap of over $400,000 that we could not afford. By that point, Mikes' fees were also $11,000 beyond his proposal, and he asked for another $13,000 for a redesign we could afford to build.
