Michael Bennett is a Shoulder Specialist, an Elbow Specialist, a Knee Specialist and a Hand Specialist. Dr. J. Michael Bennett was recently selected by his peers as a Super Doctor® in Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. A Houston native, Dr. Bennett graduated from the University of Texas, where he was Captain of the Lacrosse Team. He received his medical degree from the University of Louisville Medical School and attended the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston for his general surgery internship and then his orthopedic residency. Dr. Bennett was accepted to the prestigious UHZ Sports Medicine Institute at the University of Miami and he served as an assistant team physician for both the University of Miami Hurricanes and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during his Sports Medicine Fellowship. He’s also earned a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in sports medicine. Dr. Bennett specializes in minimally invasive and arthroscopic surgery of the shoulders, elbows, knees and hands and wrists. There are non-surgical options for treating most orthopedic conditions and sports injuries; however, when surgery is indicated, Dr. Bennett is trained to provide his patients with the latest in minimally invasive and arthroscopic surgery techniques. Minimally invasive surgery typically reduces the patient’s recovery time and it can often be performed on an outpatient basis. Sometimes, minimally invasive surgery is not in the patient’s best interests, and Dr. Bennett is fully trained and qualified to perform open surgical procedures when appropriate. Whether a surgical option is chosen by the patient or a non-surgical option is selected, Dr. Bennett and his staff are always ready to answer questions and provide the information patients need to make decision about their medical care. Doctor J. Michael Bennett encourages second opinions. Whenever one of his patients needs a second opinion to feel comfortable about the selection of a course of treatment, Doctor Bennett encourages his patients to do that. If you'd like Dr. Bennett to provide a second opinion concerning the treatments you're receiving from another orthopedic or sports medicine physician, please call Dr. Bennett’s office at 281-633-8600 for an appointment.
