About
Lee was 16 years old when he first learned to paint. His teacher and artistic mentor, watercolor artist Caesar Ciglano, gave Lee a copy of Hawthorne on Painting, and strongly urged him to study at the Cape School of Art in Provincetown if he was serious about learning to paint. Lee was serious about learning to paint, but that seed of advise lay dormant until another teacher/mentor entered his life ten years later. Lee and his wife Martha, settled in Annapolis, MD, her hometown, after they married in 1980. Lee became one of the first artists-in-residence at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, the old Annapolis High school turned arts center, Martha's high school alma mater. He met and began to study with portrait artist Cedric Egeli there, soon after taking residence.
