This Mansion is one of the oldest Hartford Connecticut inns and was once owned by the Cheney family, a family that traded worldwide in silk business. The Cheney family was close friends with the Mark Twain family that lived in Hartford. During the 1890’s, Mrs. Cheney and a friend stayed in the house and shared a strong interest in séances and spiritualism. After the Cheney’s left, their house was turned into an accommodation. The owners of the inn tried to maintain the charming and elegant atmosphere of the Cheney home. The Mansion Inn Bed and Breakfast offers five inviting and romantic rooms, each with Queen-size bed, private bathroom, fireplace, air conditioning, cable TV/VCR, and an own private little library. The delicious homemade breakfast is served on the massive antique table at the fireplace in the dining room or outside on the piazza in the beautiful flower garden.
