In 1924 Orville K. Baugher purchased land in Jefferson, PA (Mailing address of Codorus, PA). He built a large house and used the spacious basement as a repair shop which was then known as Baugher’s Garage. The repair shop is now the showroom, computer room and sales office of Baugher Motors. From 1928 through 1933, Willy’s-Overland cars were sold. In 1930, the first addition was made to add a larger repair shop. Since then numerous additions and renovations have been made including an indoor showroom which houses 20 new vehicles. In 1934 the Chrysler-Plymouth franchise was obtained. Upon graduation from high school in 1944, Sterling E. Baugher, the son of Orville began full time work at the dealership. Sterling was named manager of the dealership in 1955. Cindy E. Baugher, the daughter of Sterling upon graduation from Elizabethtown College in 1976, became the third generation of Baughers to join the dealership. The Dodge franchise was added in 1972 and Baugher Motors was incorporated in 1986. The business has grown steadily over the year and now has over 20 employees. The dealership has received many awards of excellence from the Chrysler Corporation, including 38 Distinguished Dealer Awards which is one of the best records of any Chrysler Corporation dealer in the country. In 1992, Cindy became President of the company and is proud to be currently celebrating Baugher Motors 86th year of serving the community.
