History Established in 1969. Elmer's Aquarium Pet Center was founded in 1969 by Elmer Knabe and his wife Catharine. The store expanded several times into adjacent store-rooms and basement. Elmer's Aquarium is still family owned and operated. Elmer Knabe passed away in 1995. Elmer's son Gary, and his daughter, Karen, have been involved with the business since its beginnings and operate the store today. Specialties At Elmer's you'll find a large selection of aquariums and supplies along with healthy freshwater, saltwater and pond fish. We also specialize in installation and maintenance of your home or office aquarium. About the Owner Elmer's son Gary has been the company president since 1980. Gary helped his parents open the store in 1969 and has been a partner in the company since 1974.

Review

If you are serious about your aquaria or just starting out Elmer's is the place to go. Their staff is friendly and knowledgable, their tanks are clean, their livestock are healthy, the selection is great, and their prices are very reasonable. I might go to a chain store to buy cat litter but I go to Elmer's to buy anything fish related. In 15 years I have never had a bad experience and have sent family and friends there without reservation.
