Nestled on Ventura Place in Studio City is Gangadin Indian Cuisine, a restaurant considered by many to be the best Indian Restaurant in Los Angeles. Gangadin Indian Cuisine has been serving excellent and healthy Indian food for over 25 years in the same location. When you enter Gangadin you are in a place where spice, flavor and ambience takes over and delicious food is enjoyed. The tables have fragrant flower arrangements and are glass-topped with white linen. Gangadin Indian Cuisine is owned by Manmeet Singh Sahni and his family. Manmeet takes pride in serving home style cooking. Every dish is cooked from scratch with no MSG, preservatives or animal fat added. “We specialize in outstanding, flavorful Indian Punjabicuisine,” says Manmeet, “including homemade and exotic curries, fresh baked breads from the hot tandoor and meats marinated in delicate spices and herbs.” Eating lunch at Gangadin’s is a great experience. With Indian music playing in the background, you can start your meal with papadams – a spiced crisp Indian wafer made from lentil flour and baked on an open flame – excellent with Indian beers. Try the vegetable samosa, a delicious Indian pastry stuffed with delicately spiced mashed potatoes and peas. Also, try the appetizers with green mint chutney, tamarind sauce and mango chutney. For lunch or dinner try the tandoori specialty – chicken tikka – boneless juicy chicken marinated in homemade yogurt and spices or shrimp tandoori – jumbo shrimps tastefully spiced. Both are cooked over skewers in the Tandoor (clay oven). For lamb lovers, try lamb vindaloo, a spicy lamb cooked in special vindaloo sauce. There are wholesome choices for the vegetarian menu, as well. They’ve recently added many vegan items. Curries are cooked with minimal vegetable oil and can be spiced mild, medium or hot, just the way you like it. Gangadin was raved about by critics. LA Weekly declared, “If you find a better Indian restaurant, I’d like to know about it” and the LA Times called it “Great!” – like hooking up with a new lover. Zagat called it, “the pearl of Indian restaurants”. Gangadin is the perfect place to call on for a romantic dinner for two, elegant business lunches, special events, or upscale catering. Around the corner from the CBS Studio Center, Gangadin delivers, on a daily basis, to the studios and has catered wrap parties. Serving traditional northern Indian fare, Manmeet’s restaurant has been a fixture in Studio City for many years and offers local delivery and banquet catering. The nutritional benefits of Indian food are amazing – the staples of Indian food include ingredients that are recommended by health professionals the world over to prevent heart disease, cancer, diabetes and strokes. Not only are Gangadin’s dishes nutrientpacked, they offer a festival for the senses. Indian food offers many vegetarian options and at Gangadin you can select mild, medium or spicy. One of my favorite vegan dishes is the scrumptious aloo gobi – a warm dish of cauliflower and potato, lightly spiced with healthy turmeric. Google tumeric and find out about its great anti-inflammatory qualities. Their lamb dishes are perfectly spiced and the lamb pieces are amazingly tender. Try Karhai Gosht, lamb cooked with onions and bell peppers in a wok. With a great selection of wines, Indian beers and superb desserts, a fine eating experience will be enjoyed by all. You will not leave hungry or unsatisfied. Gangadin is a wonderful place to enjoy great food. Gangadin imports Basmati rice, also serving Basmati Brown Rice, gram flour, organic wheat flour and spices directly from India. And best of all, when you come in, Manmeet can tell you about his latest travels to India. He lived in England in the sixties and saw Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Zeppelin and lots of beautiful bands there. If you are new to Indian Cuisine and don’t know where to start, right now they are offering a five item lunch at a great price. Manmeet and the whole family is very active
