The campaign, in its seventh year, could be just the thing to help you explore alternative transportation. The region offers a county-wide transit system, 330 miles of paved bike trails, a carpooling service and more. Again this year, Drive Less, Live More offers several events to encourage you to bike, walk, take the bus or carpool.Here’s the schedule for 2013: Bike to Work Day Friday, May 17 – 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Join the local chapter of this national effort and commute to work by bike. Meet up at Five Rivers MetroPark’s Riverscape for a delicious, free breakfast, entertainment and prizes, plus peruse a variety of booths all featuring information to make cyclists smile even more than they already do!Free Bike Lever to the first 450 riders and a chance to win a Dayton Dragons VIP night at the ballpark. Miamisburg-Franklin River Ride Saturday, June 15 - 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Grab your bike and hop on the River Ride. Riders will begin at Miamisburg near Miami Boulevard and head south to Franklin. Along the way, enjoy Great Miami River vistas, shady parks, and historic points of interest. Dump the Pump - Ride RTA Thursday, June 20 – 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Join RTA on Courthouse Square in downtown Dayton for the annual Dump the Pump celebration. The VidWheel Video Contest winners will be revealed and entrants videos will be displayed. There will also be special prizes and giveaways, including weekly and weekend bus passes. Every year on this day, RTA encourages everyone in Dayton to skip driving their personal cars, for at least one day, and try riding transit, carpooling, biking or walking to work on this day.
