Wu Shen Tao Martial Arts and Holistic Health Center has operated in the Silver Spring/ Takoma Park area since 1985 and has developed over time a comprehensive curriculum for training in the martial arts and Holistic Health areas. Unfortunately, in this country, many people associate martial arts with violence or with the super athlete. At Wu Shen Tao, we do not stress violence, nor will you be required to engage in activities for which you are not ready. Our goal is to introduce you to martial and holistic health training by offering a variety of programs ranging from Qi Gong and meditation to self-defense with many choices in between. In addition, once you have become a part of Wu Shen Tao, you will have access to our many gifted health and fitness practitioners that also continue to train with us. Members may also take advantage of special seminars, lectures and workshops. Paul Ramos, Director and Chief Instructor at Wu Shen Tao, has over 40 years of martial arts and health training. He has trained thousands of students in martial arts and holistic health regimens. Under his direction, Wu Shen Tao has produced over 36 US National Championship gold medalists and has developed a strong national reputation for producing high caliber students. He is requested as a judge at national and international level tournaments all over the world. A black belt in Sun Mi Do Karate and a 3 time national champion in Tai Chi Push hands, he is also an army trained intensive care nurse who has studied herbology, Taoist meditation and health practices, Eastern and Western Massage, and acupressure. He is a 19th generation disciple of the Wu Dang Longmen (Dragon's Gate), better known as the Taoist Adepts. Paul credits Wudang Long Men Masters Liu Xiao Ling and Gao Tie Niao with providing the thread between the internal systems that has allowed his knowledge to expand tremendously. At present he is a highly sought teacher of various styles of internal arts, pushing hands, eastern and western sword fighting practice and technique as well as in multi- level Health cultivation and energy work. Paul has a long history of teaching in the Takoma Park, Silver Spring community. He also has many students from Northern Virginia and around the Maryland 495 corridor. He has trained many national champions in TaiChi Chuan ( Tai Ji), XingYi Chuan, BaGua Zhang, Shaolin Kung Fu and Push Hands. Wu Shen Tao's main claim to fame is not the success of their Demonstration and Competition Teams but in the development of its average adults and children's groups. We have helped children to gain focus, concentration and improve their memory abilities. This has helped them in both their school work and home lives.
