Mission Houses Museum, a National Historic Landmark in the heart of downtown Honolulu tells the story of early 19th century Hawai`i when the first protestant missionaries came to the islands. Here is where the Hawaiian alphabet was first developed. The missionaries used the new alphabet to share their Christian faith and its culture. This is where Queen Ka`ahumanu visited her good friends Reverend and Mrs. Bingham. The oldest wooden structure in Hawai`i still stands in its original location here. This museum has a number of stories to tell, stories that are pivotal in Hawaiian history.
