Patient care is our mission We meet with numerous distinctive medical professionals throughout the city of Houston, including nurses, physicians and physical therapists. We work with the leaders of the Houston community to provide the best patient care. "We noticed that many amputee patients had the same complaint." The Problem Oftentimes, patients felt as if they were rushed through an "assembly line of care," involving several medical professionals in various settings. Patients were often left to their own devices in coping with life as an amputee. No one took the time to listen to the patient's needs and answer their questions. The Solution The Amputee and Prosthetic Center figuratively and literally holds the patient's hand and guides them through the process of coping with the loss of a limb, and receiving and living with a prosthetic device. Our Goal Our goal is to assist amputees and encourage a better lifestyle through education, advocacy, and support. "The Amputee Center program was developed throughout the years as a direct result of an intensive study of the needs of amputees. This unique program addresses all of the needs of the amputee patient, not just the provision of a prosthetic device." From the initial consultation with the nurse advocate to the annual follow-up appointment with the prosthetist, the Amputee Center program was designed to offer the highest quality of care for the amputee patient. Additionally, the Patient Advocate Facilitates Appointments & Meets Other Patient, Medical Needs.We Also Offer Free Transportation to and From Our Facilities for Patients in Need, As Well As Provide Home Visits. While Home Visits Offer Convenience, Many of Our Patients Thrive in An Environment Where TAPC Can Help Integrate Them into the Community by Offering the Free Transportation, Allowing Them to Converse with Other A mputees at Our Many Facilities.We Offer An Extensive Prosthetics Library Catalog with Selections From Over 150 Books, Booklets & Video that Addresses Almost Any Topic of Interest for An Amputee.Our Team of Experienced Prothetist Includes Ben Falls, Robyn Skogman, Tony Korjagin, and Rebecca Guijardo.
