This was the year Safeway Seattle Employees' Federal Credit Union was founded by a group of employees working for the Seattle Division of the Safeway grocery store chain. The first office of the credit union was located on Mercer Street in Seattle, Washington. Today. Our name is different - but that is a result of the success we've seen since the first deposit was made in 1952. We continue to serve Safeway employees, but we have also greatly expanded the number of people who can take advantage of membership. With a very diverse group of members including union members, community residents, and employees of more than 300 Washington companies, the name was changed to better reflect the membership diversity.
