Dr. Kamen received his undergraduate degree at Brooklyn College in New York, graduating in the top of his class and receiving a full scholarship to the State University of New York (SUNY), Downstate Medical Center, where he received his M.D. He completed his internship in internal medicine at Staten Island University Hospital and his residency in ophthalmology at SUNY, followed by a fellowship in anterior segment surgery at Beraja Medical Institute in Coral Gables, Fla., performing nearly four dozen surgeries each day. In 2004-2005, Dr. Kamen was named America’s Top Ophthalmologist in the area of cataract surgery by the Consumers Research Council of America. In addition to his private practice, Dr. Kamen performs surgeries as a member of the medical staff of the Olympia Medical Center and the Memorial Hospital of Gardena. In addition to English, Dr. Kamen also speaks Spanish and Farsi.
