Oahe Kennels proudly has served the community since 1984 by providing hunting dog and obedience training, along with boarding and breeding programs. Conveniently located at 6400 158th Street Southeast in Menoken, Oahe Kennels is locally owned and operated by Tom Ness. Ness, a graduate of the University of North Dakota, has been training hunting dogs since the mid-1970's. He became involved in Spaniel Field Trials in Wyoming and Colorado in the late 1970's. He started training professionally in the early 1980's while living in Colorado. In 1984, Tom moved his family back to North Dakota and established Oahe Kennels. Tom bought a farm south of Menoken in 1994 and began training dogs and guiding full-time. Since that time, Oahe Kennels has trained hundreds of gun-dogs of all breeds, specializing in Spaniels and Retrievers. Oahe Kennels has cocker, springer and lab puppies, as well as started and trained dogs available. All the dogs in our breeding program are selected for temperament, soundness, natural retrieving ability and drive. In addition to being excellent hunting dogs, Oahe dogs are also great household pets. Oahe Kennels also specializes in boarding all types of dogs. With nearly 40 years of professional experience and expertise, Ness has trained hundreds of dogs from all over the country as well as 25 field trial champions. While training several former and current champions, Ness was distinguished as the 2010 winner for the National English Cocker Spaniel Field Trial Championship.
