Personal info My name is Tatyana Dimovska. I was born in Skopje, Macedonia in May 1967. I moved to USA (Northwest Chicago Suburbs) with my family. I am a professional musician – a pianist, vocalist and a choir conductor with degrees in all three music disciplines as well as an experienced educator. Education I have been studying music since I was 5. I have 6 years of primary music education (piano and solfeggio), I finished my High School at the Center for Classical Music and Ballet in Skopje, Macedonia. I also have two Bachelor's Degrees: BA in Music Pedagogy (with minor in piano performance) and BMus in Choir Conducting (with minor in Music Theory) from the St. Cyril and Methodius University. I also have a Masters Degree in History of Music. I have also been invited by prof. Timakin for an additional study at the Moscow Conservatory. Teaching Experience I have more than 15 years of experience as a piano, voice and music theory teacher for children as well as for adults. I have developed my own method of teaching which is a combination of the best insights from the Russian, European and American music schools. That helps me to adapt to the individual needs of each student in order to achieve the best results. Many of my students have now successful music careers as pianists, singers or music teachers. Teaching Philosophy I see music as something very beautiful and important. We now know that music has huge positive effects on people's academic and mental functioning as well as on the social skills. Some of the most recent researches in the area of the effects of music on children's academic and social performance show that music improves mathematic and language performance as well as the reasoning capacity. It also improves coordination, increases mental concentration and so it helps in the developing of greater social skills improving, thus, children's - or, for that matter, any person's - self esteem. Learning music is - and it should be - fun, but it is also practice and discipline. Rewards at the end will be more than evident. In order to achieve those results I try to combine fun and learning. FEES I can give lessons in my home or your home. The price for a half hour piano lesson in my home is $25. Price for lessons in your home starts at $30 (up to $40 depending on the distance). Fees for the newly added music theory and solfeggio lessons (see below) are $20 (in my studio) or $30 (depending on the distance) in your home. NEW CLASSES and recitals From January 2011 I added classes in music theory and solfeggio. With this addition, my students will have fuller music education, similar to the European style of education. With this addition, learning piano becomes even easier and the appreciation of music comes to a new level. Those classes are - unlike the piano lessons which are done one-on-one - group classes and they encourage sharing of ideas between the students as well as a friendly competition which is done in a way that encourages students to learn more - not to feel inferior. The fees for the music theory and solfeggio classes are $20 (in my studio) or $25-30 (depending on the distance) in your home (minimum 3 students). Along with the new classes, I added recitals in which every student can participate (assuming that she/he is ready). The main recital is usually at the end of the year and the student will get a Diploma for a successfully finished year (again, similar to the European school system).
