1st Annual “Thunder on the Beach” Space Coast Super Boat Grand Prix being held August 20th-22nd a spectacular event. We are ramping up for this year’s event which has the potential to bring over 30,000 spectators to the Brevard County Beaches area. This will be a Double Points race drawing in some of the most sophisticated offshore high performance race boats averaging in sizes from 29ft to 45ft. The event will be held at Port Canaveral with the races taking place in Cocoa Beach from half a mile north of the Cocoa Beach Pier to just south of Lori Wilson Park on a 5.5 mile ocean course. For over 20 years Super Boat International (SBI) has been bringing the excitement of High Performance Offshore Racing to numerous locations throughout the USA with over half of them held in Florida. The powerboat configurations consist of the v-bottom hull and the twin hull catamarans known as “Cats” with engine power plants from 500hp to 6000hp. These extreme offshore power boats will be racing about 150 feet off of the beaches of Cocoa Beach in excess of 150 mph. The race boats will also stage on the event site Dry Pits at Port Canaveral for fans to give out autographs, take pictures and join in the numerous events.
