Brief History: Light the Way was founded in 2004 by Cindy Picht and Diane Popiela. Cindy is our Clinical Director and a Licensed Professional Counselor since 1999. Diane is our Director of Operations and involved in non-clinical functions. In 2009 we opened an office in Fort Lee, NJ. In 2011 we opened our third location, which is in Verona, NJ. We also relocated our main office from Hawthorne, NJ to Midland Park, NJ in July 2011. We treat each individual, couple and family with care and design a plan specifically for them. We also work with them to break through the barriers that have kept them stuck in a place they no longer want to be and help them find the healing that can provide fullness in their lives. We do this by designing a plan that fits their goals through individual, couple, family therapy, group therapy, and psycho-educational programs and training. We have begun ecounseling, or telehealth. This means if you are unable to make it to our offices then we can set a plan for you that involves email counseling, phone or video counseling. Who We Are Together our counselors have well over 60 years experience in counseling, working with children, adolescents, individuals, couples and families. Our counselors are well equipped and possess a deep understanding of the mental and emotional pain people and children are exposed to daily. Our counselors possess a wealth of experience, both clinically and in life, including trauma, crisis, abuse, family issues, grief, individual growth, depression, anxiety and many others. We are continually developing methods which are creative and innovative to help bring about positive and healthy results.
