Rapid City Acupuncture is an Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine clinic located in Rapid City, SD! Acupuncture originated in China over 3000 years ago, and is the art and science of inserting needles into acupuncture points as a part of Chinese medicine. Acupuncture manipulates the energy known as Qi (chee) to effect changes in the body and organ systems. This energy circulates through twelve lines known as meridians. Each meridian is named after a different organ system, and covers different parts and aspects of the body. Diseases of the body can be brought back into balance by correcting the flow of qi throughout a meridian. Since their beginnings Acupuncture and Chinese medicine have been immersed in assisting humans to reach their full potential, to evolve and grow as individuals through all of life’s lessons. Life is an extraordinary adventure, fraught with challenges, difficulties, emotional turbulence, and moments of peace and enlightenment. Especially in modern times, with the accelerated pace of learning, communication, global interconnection, and technological advances, there is a greater need for methods and tools of adaptation to help us move more smoothly through these times of transition. The Extraordinary Vessels, in Chinese medicine, are often utilized during such times, and are one of the main foundations for the style of acupuncture practiced at my clinic in Rapid City, SD. In many treatment sessions, I will open at least one of the extraordinary vessels, depending on the chief complaint, the pulses, and each patient’s history.
