Absolutely Art's Mission Absolutely Art opened its doors on April 1, 2005. We are a Community-Based Art Gallery on the Eastside of Madison. The community based business idea includes employing people for the neighborhood, supporting local artists by purchasing their work, having a family friendly environment, and producing profit to donate back into the neighborhood (we are a for profit business with a non-profit mentality). The first organization we will be donating to is the Goodman Atwood Community Center and Food Pantry. Developing ideas include: individual and groups shows, art fairs, drop-in projects for individuals and families, artists creating onsite and artist demonstrations. Community input is always welcome. Our hope is to grow with the neighborhood and become a good partner. How we are Meeting our Mission -Every Year, kids enjoy our free art & craft booth at the Goodman Atwood Community Center's (GACC) Atwood Summerfest. -Hosted our first "Re-Art Swap" in June 2008. This was a free opportunity to swap your old art supplies for new art supplies. -We feature over 200 artists from Madison and the surrounding communities. -Donate many pieces of art to local groups for silent auctions and fundraisers. -We have displayed art work from three different elementary school groups raising money for international organizations. -Created our "Shirts that Supply" program. With the money raised from the sales of our store tee-shirts and spare change we have already purchased supplies for four groups (Lowell Elementary, Goodman Atwood Community Center, Marquette Elementary and the Respite Center). We continue to raise money and will be contacting more organizations in the near future. -Refinished an old school desk as a donation for the "Pull Up a Chair" fundraiser put on for the GACC. -We have had artists creating art on site, both in the store and Artist Sara Licht created our beautiful new mural on our outside back wall in May 2008. -We continue to have an opening reception the first Friday of every month from 5p-9p to welcome our featured artist for the month.
