Joel served as an Assistant Staff Judge Advocate in the 49th Fighter Wing at Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico, and later as an Area Defense Counsel, where he defended servicemen in the region. After leaving active duty in 2005, Joel worked as a public defender in Minnesota’s Third Judicial District. Joel lives in Owatonna, and is active in the community.
