Less than 4 miles from the 1,000-foot-deep granite chasm of Colorado's famous Royal Gorge, this KOA offers dramatic views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The recently added patio sites with fire pits and barbecue grills are very slide friendly. The kids will love the Fun Country Amusement Park right next door, featuring a go-kart track, 18-hole mini-golf course and a giant gunnysack slide. Dogs and their parents will enjoy the K9 playground. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, the campground serves a daily breakfast (and pizza) at the Chuckwagon. Or enjoy ice cream treats from the store. A handy shuttle is available to take you to the Royal Gorge Bridge and the Royal Gorge Route Railroad. Hop aboard the full-size Royal Gorge excursion train for a spellbinding ride as it slaloms along the Arkansas River at the bottom of the gorge. Horseback riding, rafting and zip-line companies are nearby.
