Grandview Park Baptist Church has existed as a Baptist church in Des Moines, Iowa, for over 80 years. On December 31, 1922, Calvary Baptist Church began an afternoon Sunday School just north of the Iowa State Fairgrounds in a one-room Camp Dodge hut. Out of this work a mission was organized. By September 28, 1931, the work had become self-supporting, and with 94 charter members Grandview Park Baptist Church became an organized Baptist church. In 1936, Grandview Park became associated with the Iowa Association of Regular Baptist Churches, and in 1942, the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches. Various ministries at Grandview also involve adults of the community. Adult Bible Fellowship Groups, Sunday Morning Worship, Sunday Evening Discipleship, and Small Groups are some of the opportunities that the College Age through the Senior Saints have to grow in their relationships with God and other believers.

Changing Lives in the Name of Jesus Christ Our Vision is . . . Changing lives in the name of Jesus Christ. Our Mission is... To create a welcoming atmosphere To invite others to join our faith journey To involve all in worship, service, mission, small group participation, tithing and prayer To connect our faith in Jesus with our daily lives God loves us. Not because of who we are or because of what we've done. He loves us . . . just because. He sent His perfect son, Jesus, to die on the cross for our sins. Not because we deserve this gift from Him. Yet He loves us . . . just because. Remember these words: "Jesus loves me this I know for the Bible tells me so." Two key Bible verses help to summarize the foundation of what we believe. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.” John 3:16 “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God—not the result of works, so that no one may boast” Ephesians 2:8-9 John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist movement, spent significant time in worship, hearing and studying Scripture, Holy Communion, prayer, and fasting. These practices continue to help us to stay connected with our Lord and Savior today just as they assisted Wesley to grow in his faith. Our congregation was established in 1892 and now has nearly 1,800 members. Worship Times Saturday 5 p.m. Sunday 8:30 a.m. and 11:10 a.m. Sunday School: 10 a.m.
