FCC is a non-profit community supported program dedicated to providing financial counseling and debt management services for families and individuals. FCC helps people help themselves. During a financial crisis, we act as a mediator between clients and creditors. However, we are NOT a lending institution. FCC is funded by contributions from individuals, creditors and grants. Financial problems can happen to anyone. FCC clients come from all walks of life, and from a variety of backgrounds, but they have these things in common: Difficulty paying their mortgage; Difficulty paying their bills; Difficulty in budgeting their money; A sincere interest in solving their financial concerns. Most services are FREE with the exception of Debt, Management, Reverse Mortgage Counseling and Bankruptcy Counseling. All types of donations are welcome. Financial and Budget Counseling may be needed to develop a long range spending plan. Credit Report Review may be done with a credit report you bring in or one pulled from our office (fees apply). Debt Management Program (DMP) is plan worked out with the cooperation of several credit card companies to help you repay your debts. Education compliments our one on one counseling services. Housing Counseling is provided free of charge and face to face for renters, families seeking to own a home, homeowners with mortgage delinquencies, and homeowners that want to avoid foreclosure. FCC is a HUD certified Comprehensive Housing Counseling agency and a nationally certified Reverse Mortgage Counseling agency. NC Foreclosure Prevention Fund offers help to North Carolina homeowners who are struggling to make their mortgage payments due to job loss or other temporary financial hardship, such as the death of a loved one, divorce, or serious illness. Bankruptcy Counseling helps people with financial problems who are considering filing for bankruptcy. These services are neverd enied because of inability to pay.
