Melanie’s Gourmet is a recreational cooking school offering hands-on cooking classes, team building exercises, youth cooking camps, and private cooking parties. Class topics range from kitchen basics to healthy meals, seasonal dishes, date nights, and exotic cooking techniques. Each student has an individual cooking station with a fully-stocked kitchen and personal stove top surrounding a 22-foot island. At Melanie’s Gourmet Kitchen, our chef’s cooking station stands at the head of the island so all students have a clear view of our instructor throughout the entire length of the class. Meet the Chef Chef Scott has worked in the culinary field since 1977. He started his culinary career in Long Island, New York, then moved to Las Vegas to continue his passion. He worked for the Hilton Hotels mastering fine cuisine as a Top Chef. He wanted to continue his career so he moved to Salt Lake City and joined the American Culinary Federation. While working for Downtown Hilton, Scott became a four-time medal winner with the American Culinary Federation. Youth Cooking Camps Do your children love to cook? Do they need a place to spread their culinary wings? Or, do you want your children to learn basic cooking skills like how to read a recipe or how to properly handle food? Melanie’s Gourmet hands-on cooking camps help students develop a love of cooking in a safe environment by our friendly and knowledgeable instructors. Our goal is to increase student’s culinary knowledge, hone their cooking techniques, and expand their minds to the wonderful world of food. Students learn skills in areas like proper knife care, safe food handling, reading recipes and combining flavors. Youth Cooking Camp is a 4-class course on kitchen basics. Cooking Camp is one class/week for four weeks.
