Choosing the right legal representation is never easy, and it is usually at a time of crisis. I invite you to browse my site to get a feel for who I am and the type of work I do. My office is centrally located in a 1906 historic Salem home at 1415 Commercial St S. E. After I graduated in 1981 with both a law degree (JD) from Willamette Law and a Masters Degree in Business (MBA) from the Atkinson School of Business, I have practiced law around the State of Oregon in the areas of divorce, custody and related matters, personal injury cases involving cars, motorcycles and pedestrians, in juvenile issues representing youth and adults, and in criminal defense for adults. I believe I bring a unique combination of education, experience and temperament that helps to resolve many problems without litigation, but I have the experience to take matters to trial if a solution cannot be reached. Each area of law in which I practice requires different skills for which I am proud. Please look over the area of practice that fits your needs and call or e-mail me with your questions. I am proud of the work I do for my clients in helping them resolve their legal issues. I hope we can help you, too.

Affordable and zealous representation throughout Oregon including Portland, Salem, Eugene, and Medford. Our practice areas include: • Elder Law • Special Needs Law • Estate Planning • Education Law... r>• Bankruptcy • Auto Dealer Fraud • Gun Trusts Elder and Special Needs Law Many of us have loved ones with developmental disabilities, such as Down Syndrome, or aging-related disabilities, such as dementia. While we wish to help our loved ones be as independent as possible, there are times when we realize our loved ones do not have the capacity to make informed decisions on housing, finances, healthcare, or other adult responsibilities or to communicate those decisions. There are a number of ways to protect our loved ones in these times and still maintain their dignity and independence as much as possible. Call to speak to an attorney about guardianship, conservatorship, powers of attorney, advanced directives, supplemental needs trusts and other tools that can help in these times. Estate Planning An estate plan is a critical step in people's lives that should not be overlooked. A well established estate plan will reduce the stress placed on your loved ones after you pass. If properly created, your estate plan will allow your wishes to be carried out after you are no longer able to make your voice heard and allow you to know what your loved ones will be expecting when dealing with your property. If you desire to avoid the probate process, steps can be taken during your life to ensure that the court will not be required to assist in the transfer of your property. Call to talk to an attorney about wills, trusts, and probate administration. Education The laws governing special education and the rights of students with disabilities are a complex and shifting mix of state and federal statutes, regulations, and case law. If you believe your child is not receiving the services they need from their school or have reached the point where you just don’t understand what is going on with the school, please give us a call. One of our attorneys will talk to you about how you can ensure your child gets the services he or she needs. Bankruptcy Do you have debt getting out of control? Are debt collectors calling to harass you day and night? Are you being sued in court for a debt? Filing bankruptcy can wipe the slate clean, stop harassing phone calls, and help you back on your feet. Call to find out if you qualify for a quick and painless bankruptcy. Auto Dealer Fraud We represent consumers on various claims against car dealers for both new and used car purchases. If you recently purchased a car, truck, or RV and feel that you have been a victim of fraud or abusive sales tactics, we may be able to help make things right. Gun Trusts A gun trust is a special entity created to hold items regulated by the National Firearms Act (NFA), frequently referred to as NFA trusts. A gun trust is drafted specifically to hold restricted weapons to be used by the trust’s beneficiaries. A trust has several benefits over purchasing as an individual: 1. No fingerprints are required. 2. No law enforcement signature is required. 3. Approval is typically faster than registration for an individual. 4. An estate plan for your NFA items is built in; your weapons will transfer as directed in your trust. 5. It can hold all of your NFA items, so every additional purchase can be added to your trust with minimal effort.
