Dr. Wolkomir is a graduate of both Muhlenberg College and St. George's University School of Medicine. Following his time there, he served as the Chief Resident of General Surgery at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, New Jersey. He then went to the Ferguson Clinic in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he was a Resident in Colon-Rectal Surgery. Dr. Wolkomir then opted to return to his home state of New Jersey to open his own colon and rectal surgery practice in Red Bank, where he has been practicing since 1990. Furthermore, Dr. Wolkomir is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a Fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (FASCRS). He is certified by the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery, and received re-certifications in 2002 and 2012. Additionally, Dr. Wolkomir has written many surgical papers and has presented at both national and international meetings of professionals. On the subject of patient care, Dr. Wolkomir prides himself on the personalized nature of his approach, stating that "I will try my best to see you promptly and explain your condition to you in a personal and direct way." All components of patient evaluation and any procedure that may need to be done are personally performed by Dr. Wolkomir. Dr. Wolkomir has been married to his wife Patricia for over 20 years, and they have two children together. His son, Alexander, is a current student at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and his daughter, Lara, is a current student at Lehigh University. In his free time, Dr. Wolkomir enjoys spending time with his family. In addition to his love of gardening and environmental pursuits, Dr. Wolkomir is also an avid historian and genealogical researcher. This interest has led him to join numerous groups focused around this subject area, and he is thus a friend of the Holland Society of New York as well as a member of the New Netherland Institute, the Medieval Academy of America, the Society for the Study of the Crusades and Latin East, the Genealogical Society of New Jersey, the Bergen County Historical Society, the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society, and the New England Historical and Genealogical Society.
