After two cancer surgeries and being overwhelmed by food and chemical sensitivities, I decided to figure things out for myself. Despite over 25 years of working in medicine, even teaching as a Clinical Professor and Attending Physician at a major medical center, I lacked the training to fully address my own chronic disease problems. My searching eventually led me to the fields of Functional and Integrative Medicine. I completed undergraduate degrees in Nursing and Religion, plus a Masters in Public Health Education. I went to medical school and completed a Preventive Medicine residency at Loma Linda University in Southern California. I have been a Keynote Speaker for the Breast Cancer Early Detection Program and worked in Breast Cancer research at Johns Hopkins. I have served as a Primary Care physician with Indian Health, Veterans Hospitals, College Health Services, and clinics for homeless and underserved populations. I am currently completing certification programs through the Institute for Functional Medicine and the American Board of Integrative and Holistic Medicine.
