LADY DJ D.NYCE emerged on the scene 1982, raised in Highbridge Projects in Da Bronx, ol' heads may know it as The Hill. It was the 212 home of Hip Hop now its 718 still the home of Hip Hop. Her inspiration for deejay-ing came from watching deejays at the jams in the parks. She was a little girl hanging out with her older cousins and they would stick Lady DJ D.NYCE by the dj and tell her to stay there till they came for her. So she used to watch and learn. She was your average teenage tomboy hanging with the fellas who were either rapping, making beats on a beatbox or deejay-ing across the street from the school (166 & University Ave) they renamed the street after Martin Luther King Jr. They would try to get her to rap their lyrics and when she did, she sounded great, but to do it in front of a crowd of strangers was scary for her at the time. She preferred being in the background as the hype person, mixing, and scratching the beats on the turntables. With plenty of practice she became awesome. There were many dj's in her-hood with equipment, She took every opportunity to practice and become better. In leu, of that, to let Lady DJ D.NYCE play out in the parks she would promise to un-tangle the wires and help set up. Behind her elementary school 126 in the Bronx is were a lot of the Jams and deejay battles happen. There was a lot of hiphop history that happened in the 70's & 80's. Till this very day they have Jams there annually. Special Thanx: Thanks too all the deejays that took the time to teach her and gave her the opportunity to practice on their sets, without them she wouldn't be who she is today, a phenomenal female deejay, the rest is history. Now, she finds herself keeping up with the trends of music while staying true to the roots by keeping old school alive. Her Quest: She is now independently making her mark in the major industry as a female dj, LADY DJ D.NYCE. She's true to the game and LOVES ALL MUSIC. NEW YORK STAND UP!!.
