After tearing the washer apart to remove the drain, we called Ken's Appliance and Service to see about getting a new pump. This was at about 7:40PM on a Tuesday night, they close at 6:30PM. A older gentleman, I assume was Ken, answered the phone told us they were pretty sure they had the part and to stop in and pick it up. The next day I stopped in, they had the part, the correct part, waiting for me. I walked out paying about what it would have cost me to buy the part online and pay for 2 day shipping. They accept cash, check (I assume local only), credit or debit card and it looked like they were set up to use the Mastercard PayPass type of payment method also. The building is older and much like you would expect from a retail store, but they seemed to have a large variety of parts for just about any appliance you would have as well as new appliances for sale. If you are in the Ames Iowa area and need a part to fix your appliance yourself, I would highly recommend checking with Ken's Appliance & Service first!
