Hospice of the North Coast is a community based, non-profit organization committed to assisting patients and their families navigate the ever-changing mosaic of healthcare choices. In early 1980, Father Paul Camm of St. Andre’s church in Encinitas, organized members of his congregation to help care for a terminally ill patient in her home. Having recognized the need for hospice care in the northern coastal area of San Diego County, Father Camm began enlisting the support of various community members and agencies to help fill this need. By December 1980, Articles of Incorporation were filed with the State of California, a logo and brochure was developed and volunteers had been recruited and trained. Over the years, HNC has expanded its services, sponsored special events and established a Resale Shop to support the programs that are provided to its hospice patients. In May 1989, Hospice of the North Coast received Medicare certification, further increasing patient access to hospice care. With more than three decades of experience providing hospice and palliative care services in North San Diego County, we partner with patients to tailor a care plan that meets their personal wishes and needs. Our size and focused service area enables us to give patients the highest level of care and support, helping to control pain, manage symptoms and improve quality of life. We offer pre-bereavement support to patients and families and group and individualized counseling for those who have experienced loss of any kind. Our mission is to help people have a peaceful life through death experience and support those who walk alongside them in their journey. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Patients and families are encouraged to ASK FOR US by name. We are Hospice of the North Coast. We walk with you so you don’t walk alone.
