Patty Long Catering has become a household name when it comes to upscale catering and events planning in the St. Louis area. Patty and Long are Deborah Patty and Joan Long. They met and became friends while working as international flight attendants for TWA. When TWA went on strike, in the spring of 1986, Deborah and Joan found themselves with no job, and decided to put their love of culinary arts to work and start a small catering business and bistro on Lafayette Square. A few years later, Deborah sold her interest in the business to Joan and relocated to sunny California. In the summer of 1992, Joan and her husband, Wayne, acquired a historic church building that's come to be known as 9th Street Abbey. Now, the Abbey serves as Patty Long Catering's elegant headquarters. Over time, the patty Long name has become synonymous with eclectic dining and special events.
