Rhonda Paver and her husband Bill moved to Austin in 1979. Discouraged by the lack of quality child care, Rhonda started her own school to give other parents the same level of care that she gave her own children. The core philosophy was based on earning the trust of parents, who soon found Stepping Stone School a solid bridge between work and home. As the number of schools expanded, Rhonda went to great lengths to ensure that her rigorous standards were not diminished by the expansion. Today, the Stepping Stone training program and Quality Review system are at the cutting edge of the Early Care and Education field. The same values that Rhonda believed in at the beginning - the value of each and every child as a unique human being; the commitment to nurturing all children physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially; and the assurance to parents that their children are safe, secure and loved - are still at the very heart of the organization.
